In November 2007, Dalian Haida Ship Navigation National Engineering Research Center Co., Ltd. was established. The engineering research center aims at the needs of major national scientific and technological progress and the development of the transportation industry, and focuses on the technical fields of ship transportation safety, energy saving, and environmental protection, and collaborates on three levels of ship intelligent navigation equipment, maritime information processing and control systems, and information services. To lead the development of China's ship navigation technology, to upgrade and upgrade product production technology, and to continuously provide world-class ship navigation products and production technology, and to become China's famous ship navigation system integrated research and development base and high-level talent training base.

Since its establishment, the Engineering Research Center has successively undertaken and completed a number of national, provincial and municipal scientific research projects, formed independent intellectual property rights patented technology, and has 32 invention patents in the fields of ship communication and navigation and ship electronic information. the technical level is leading in China, and some key technologies have reached the international level.

The projects of "Research on Electronic Chart (Waterway Chart) Technology and Its Application System" and "Navigation Simulator with Complete Functions of Multiple Ships and Its Development Platform" undertaken by the Engineering Research Center won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2007 and 2008 respectively. The promotion of the project results has achieved good economic and social benefits.
